ATMing

i pull up to the drive-thru atm today and there's a yellow pick up truck in front of me. ok, fine, i need to look something up in the phonebook which lives in my car anyway.

i'm watching the yellow truck as i'm flipping through the phonebook. he has yet to make a move toward or away from the atm. he's just sitting there. it looks like he's fumbling around inside the cab of his truck. i can't tell if he's already made his transaction and he's putting his money away or if he's looking to find his atm card so he can begin his transaction.

and we sit there.

and sit there

and sit there

and i'm done using the phonebook

and we're still sitting there

i'm considering honking my horn. is this really necessary? can you pull into a parking space and do whatever it is you're doing in that truck and let others who are ready to get their atm on get their atm on? i mean really, this is ridiculous.

and we're still sitting there

no actual action around the atm

should i honk my horn? is that too impatient?

finally, his hand moves to the atm and we have contact and in 30 seconds it's done. so we've sat there for about four minutes to wait on his 30 second transaction, meaning about four or five others could have gone while we were waiting on the yellow truck.

let's show some respect at the atm, people.

Damn yellow truck!
I probably would have honked, but that could have ended ugly, some redneck jumpin' out and has had a few too many (hence the reason he couldn't find his card).
I am ready with my card, or money at a drive through. I suppose you and I just assume that the rest of the world should be the same way...

...well damn it they should be!
