knitting

i'm officially an old maid: my best friend got engaged over the weekend, and i've taken up knitting.

i'm very excited about the engagement, don't get me wrong. but she was my unmarried touchstone. we would gossip about all the married people out there. and it was like she and i were practically married through school, so i guess we're going to have to get that one annulled.

because it was my day off and i was finding that i was getting very bored with myself, i decided to join up with a group of ladies from my church and knit. before tonight, i didn't know how to knit, but apparently i was a fast learner. the ladies -- all at least 20 years older than me -- did make fun of me when i called the knitting needles 'sticks.' i mean, that's what they look like.

if you see me post something about getting some cats, please, please come rescue me from my old maid-dom.
