considering the recent developments in the world, i've decided it's time to actually start paying attention to signs of the apocalypse and omens of the end of the world. i noted a few while i was in memphis this week.
on thursday, the day that the government jacked up security measures at airports after the british foiled another terrorism attempt on the u.s., i was headed for the memphis airport for an assignment. the radio played rem's it's the end of the world as we know it. as i was leaving, i heard tom petty's don't come around here no more.
my dad told me while i was there that the last time memphis got rain was the last time i was there: over father's day weekend. while i was in town this week, it began raining thursday evening and didn't stop until friday at lunchtime.
