in the money

i usually am most unlucky when i go to the casinos in tunica. i guess unlucky is the wrong word, as really i'm only succumbing to the odds of gambling, ie. the odds are you're going to lose your money.

i scored a surprise trip to memphis on thursday, and because i had friday night and saturday morning off, i made a side trip to tunica.

i did a little better than usual, managing to play on a single $20 bill for an hour and a half spent at the blackjack video games (why, oh why do the real blackjack tables have to have a $10 minimum) before i lost the money. an unlucky turn at the roulette table with my lucky number 18, and i'd lost a little more.

i had a random $5 bill shoved in my pocket, so soon before we decided to leave, i put it in the $1 slots, thinking 'this will be fast.' fast it was -- on the third crank a dollar turned into $360.

my good luck for the next ten years is now spent.
