dog gone

i went looking at puppies today. not puppies, to me all doggies are puppies, but i don't want a little bitty thing. anyway, i found the one i thought would be mine. she is sweet, but very shy and skittish. she didn't seem extremely playful, but she was at least calm and didn't try to climb all over everything or bark continually. and she is as cute as she can be.

of course, when my mom called today, and i told her what i'd been doing, she yelled at me. she said it would be cruel to subject a dog to being home eight hours a day by herself. nevermind that my mom left her old dog at home by herself lots of times for hours upon hours.

anyway, it's all a moot point. i got home, and i had an e-mail from the rescue people saying they thought i'd make a good home for a dog, but this particular dog needs a fenced-in yard, which unfortunately i cannot provide.

such is life.
